Today had been hectic day in terms of work. I was stuck with so many things that even simpler ones i was accustomed to; were not seeing the face of earth. Then my niece Fatim
a gave me those precious and joyous moments that restored all my energies for rest of the day. She clad in her blue sports uniform and white snickers with a medal hanging around her neck, her ponytail was moving when she walked. Her face was amazingly sparkled with the happiness of victory. She announced that she stood first in a race where she had beaten all her classmates including boys. When i held her in my arms my body was filled with heavenly feeling a mother usually have when her children achieve something even tittle ones.
Her two elder brothers besides all our family love her and always ready to protect her from the dirt of world. Girls are taught to live in specified limits that they have been familiarized since their childhood. Certainly I do not want her exquisite and delicate childhood to be prey to those elderly and sometime false things which usually girls are trained to. I believe she will learn herself and she is learning. She unlike all other girls indulges herself into boyish activities.
Her brothers did’nt reach to podium while they were also participating in their sports representing their classes. But she had distinction. She is only four years old beautiful girl and on February 23 she will step up one more year of her life. She does not understands the worth of these words and my feelings for her yet. But i know she will value these when she will some day inshAllah represent Pakistan on international levels in one way or other.
She dislikes when i call her “Mitki”, “Mitak”, “Mini”, “Mino” she says LaLa call me “khichki” and when i inquire why baby she says cause i have too much “hichki” (hick-Ups). She is such a beautiful soul and delicate heart; that she wants her grand mother’s maid to study in school. She can not differentiate between poor and rich, she knows them only as children. She loves animals and her only wish is to become a veterinary doctor without knowing how and why she would do that.
Holding her in my arms and watching her sleep next to me makes me luckiest khala on earth. She fills my world with flowers and colours. She is my little darling and I always pray to Allah to protect her from every evil.
